Cardinals will travel to Virginia to race in competitive regatta
The University of Louisville rowing team is heading to Virginia to race in the Rivanna Romp to be held Sunday in Earlysville, Va. on the Rivanna Reservoir.
 Action begins at Noon with the Varsity Eights, followed by the Varsity Four and novice crews. Boats will go off one at a time, about 10-15 seconds apart, in a time trial to determine the winners.

The Cavaliers are hosting crews from Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Miami, Navy, North Carolina and SMU. Virginia has captured the last 14 Varsity Eight races at the Romp, while the UVA Varsity Four has won 11 of the last 13 races.
At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Duke's Second Varsity Eight crew placed first in the C Finals while the Blue Devils finished 16th in the team standings. The University of Miami rowing team closed out the 2021 season at the ACC Championship Finals on Saturday, finishing sixth in the final team standings for its best finish at the championship since 2014. Navy's Midshipmen won their sixth straight Patriot League Championship, head coach Joe Schlosberg and assistants Megan Fitzpatrick and Mackenzie Whiteside were named as the CRCA Region 2 Coach and Staff of the Year. The SMU Mustangs finished 11th overall at the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championships marking the highest finish in AAC rowing history. The previous highest NCAA finish by a conference program was 17th by Louisville in 2014.  The University of North Carolina's varsity four won the Petite Final to highlight their ninth place finish at the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Championship.
