Cardinals Welcome Will Mayew to 2022 Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville head men's tennis coach Rodrigo da Silva has announced that Will Mayew has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue his education and tennis career with the Cardinals starting in the fall of 2022.

"Will is a talented player and we are so happy to welcome him to the team," said da Silva. "He brings a great work ethic and a positive mindset and I know he will be a great fit for our program as we continue to work toward our goal of winning championships."

Mayew comes to Louisville from Cary, North Carolina, where he attends Crossroads Flex High School and has fashioned an impressive resume while being ranked as high as No. 16 in the nation by the Tennis Recruiting Network for the class of 2022.

He earned his first International Tennis Federation (ITF) points when he reached the singles quarterfinals in Dijon, France at the age of 15. He was also a singles quarterfinalist in ITF events in Jalisco, Mexico as well as Menton, France and Lexington, S.C. Additionally, he won the Boys 16 Singles title at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Level 1A Championship and finished third at the USTA Boys 16s Southern Winter Level I Championships.

His double highlights include winning the Boys 18 USTA Southern Level 2 Winter Championships and reaching the ITF finals in Atlanta along with the semifinals in Queretaro, Mexico and Lexington, S.C.

While playing for Green Hope High School as a freshman, he helped the team to its first North Carolina 4A Boys State Championship as a freshman. Following the season, he was named to the HighSchoolOT.com All-East Boys Tennis Team.
