Cardinals play Saturday and Sunday as competition continues

MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team completed the first day of competition at the Martha Thorn Invitational hosted by West Virginia University.

The Cards were downed 3-0 to Penn State in doubles. Louisville won at No. 3 doubles versus James Madison when Joy Callwood and Rhea Verma defeated Hope Moulin and Amanda Nord 6-3.

In the only singles action of the day, UofL tied 3-3 with WVU. Rhea Verma took down WVU's Ting-Pei Chang 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 and Tatiana Simova outlasted Camilla Bossi of WVU 2-6, 7-6 10-3. Dina Chaika scored the final point for the Cards with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Anastasia Bovolskaya.
