Newcomer Spotlight: Jennifer Leonhardt

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville softball team is set to open its 2021 campaign in February. Throughout the next few weeks, we will meet each of the Cardinals' seven newcomers. Right-handed pitcher Jennifer Leonhardt, a graduate transfer from the University of Southern Indiana– and Louisville native – is up next.

Full name: Jennifer Leonhardt
Hometown: Louisville (Fern Creek HS)
2021 Class: Graduate student, UofL School of Dentistry
Major: Biology
Post college ambition: Become a dentist

Proudest moment of your life:
Sweeping the 2018 NCAA DII National Championships.

Perfect pizza:
Deep dish with all of the cheeses and a layer of pepperoni.

If you could have a super power, what would it be:
I'd be able to fly to any vacation spot I wanted.

What you like to do outside of playing softball:
Relax and spend time with my puppies.

Favorite inspirational quote:
"Everything happens for a reason."

Who or what inspires or motivates you:
My mom. She's been through a lot and I hope to be as tough as her one day.

What has been your greatest challenge to overcome:
Being a successful biology student and a successful softball player at the same time.

Pregame routine:
Always pray before the National Anthem.

Why you chose UofL:
Coach Holly gave me this incredible opportunity to continue my softball career after I already thought it was over, and I'm so thankful for that. The staff and the girls have already made me feel welcomed and a part of the program. It's also very special that I get to end my career playing for my hometown crowd.

Favorite thing about UofL:
The atmosphere within the athletics department and the winning mindset.
