Catching Up with Taja Felder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Taja Felder is up next on the University of Louisville softball team series of check-ins.

The Fresno, Calif., native was making strides as her freshman season progressed. She made five appearances in the circle against Texas State, Missouri, Michigan (twice), Alabama and UIC. The delivered her first career strikeout against Texas State on February 8 and tallied four strikeouts in the shortened season. Offensively, she had connected on her first career double against Michigan on February 14 and blasted an RBI double in the 2-1, eight-inning loss at No. 15/14 Oklahoma State on February 29.

Post college ambition: To become a pediatric or neonatal nurse
Fun Fact: Taja's sister, Mya plays softball at Oregon. This season the Felder sisters faced each other in the Oklahoma State Invitational on Feb. 29 – the Cardinals beat the Ducks 4-3.

If you could play any sport other than softball, what would it be?
It would have to be basketball, I played all the way through my senior year.

What are some of the top moments/favorite memories from your career so far?
My favorite memory so far is playing in Oklahoma against my sister and a lot of my family members were there to see it happen. It was one I will never forget!

Why did you choose UofL?
I love the atmosphere and it's a different experience from where I from. I also like the way the program is heading and I believe we can be the best.

What is your favorite quote, saying or motto?
Bible verse: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

How would your friends describe you?
I think my friends would describe me as outgoing and funny. Â

When my mom had cancer

I do sing, I sing a lot actually! My sister and I sing karaoke together or I just sing by myself in my room or in the car. Sometimes we even sing for our family.

I like that she is hands on at practice and gets in and practice with us sometimes. She also always has a motivating quote to keep us going.

My sister (Mya Felder) we have always worked out together and we push each other to be not only amazing athletes but amazing people as well.
