Catching Up with Jordyn Wolfe
May 20, 2020 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will continue to check in with members of the team throughout the summer. Up next is 2020 junior Jordyn Wolfe.
Â
When the 2020 campaign ended, the junior was on a five-game hitting streak and had started in right field in four of Louisville's final five games. She registered a .324 batting average, placing her third on the team. Â Some of her season highlights included registering two hits, with a triple in the 4-3 win against Illinois on March 8. That same weekend, she went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and an RBI in the 3-1 win over Northwestern on March 7.
Â
The season was suspended on March 12, the eve of the Cardinals' ACC-opening series against Boston College at Louisville's Ulmer Stadium.
Â
"At first, I didn't have a reaction," remembers Wolfe. "I didn't think it could actually be happening but after hearing everything I was so upset and disappointed I couldn't compete with my girls for something we worked so hard for."
Â
But, she adapted while continuing weekly meetings via video with teammates and coaches.
Â
"I developed some good routines," continued Wolfe. "I have been eating healthier, working out and making sure I get the proper amount of sleep each night."
Â
With the semester now complete, Wolfe looks forward to the possibility of returning to campus and the game she loves. Â
Â
"Right now, I am home for the next couple weeks and then I will be in Sarasota Florida playing in a summer league for softball for five weeks," she said. "Then I will come home middle of July and spend a couple weeks at home before I move back to school in August."Â

I am communicating with my teammates via Facetime and text and also we have team meetings on Zoom and keep updated with each other and the staff!

I am doing home workouts right now and working with what I have to keep in shape and when the weather is nice I go on runs and sometimes go on a walk with my family.

What I miss most about Louisville is my team and staff. The girls on my team keep college fun and the staff is always there to help us if we need anything.
Â
Do you play an instrument, sing, speak multiple languages or have an unusual skill/hobby?
I used to play the viola in elementary school and be in choir but now I would say my unusual skill is making my teammates laugh with my goofy dancing. I think that is something I'm known for.

If I could see one person in concert it would be Luke Combs, even though I'm a city girl from Chicago, country music has a big spot in my heart.
Â

I would say the top moments I have had in my career would be my sophomore year, taking the series against Florida State and one of my own accomplishments would be making SportsCenter Top 3 plays in Regionals at Northwestern.
Â
If you could play any sport other than softball, what would it be?
If I could play another sport it would be volleyball. I am short so I would play libero, but I enjoy playing that sport.

I would have to say not only moving away from home but not being able to hang out with my parents because I'm so close to them
Â
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My dad. he believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself
Â
Favorite thing about UofL:
My favorite thing about the University of Louisville would have to be how it is very sports-oriented and all the athletes support each other no matter the team.
Â
Favorite thing about playing for Coach Aprile:
My favorite thing about playing for Coach Aprile would be how she's so engaged. At practice she will throw, and even run with us. She takes the time to really explain things so we understand them and makes sure everyone's voice is heard.

I am… Someone who never gives up and will hype you up when you need it.
I have always wanted to… Play in the WCWS and fight for a ring with my team.
Coach Holly was right when she said… play for the name on the front of your jersey not the back because we are all in this together and when we all do that it's the best feeling in the world.
