
14 UofL Teams Have Perfect APR Scores For 2018-19

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fourteen University of Louisville athletic teams posted a perfect score in the most recent single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) data that was released by the NCAA on Tuesday.
The 14 UofL sports – 10 women's and four men's -- with a perfect 1000 APR score for the most recent 2018-19 figures consist of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, field hockey, women's lacrosse, softball, women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, women's track & field, and volleyball.Â
UofL's men's and women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf and volleyball teams are among the top 10 percent in their respective sports in the latest multiyear APR, which measures academic eligibility, retention and graduation for student-athletes. All five sports received public recognition awards from the NCAA last week.
Overall, Cardinal sports teams achieved an impressive 3.332 combined grade point average for the 2019-20 academic year, including a record 3.507 GPA for the 2020 Spring semester. Â All 23 sports programs were above a 3.0 collective GPA for the 2020 Spring semester, with 84 percent (472 of 562) of the Cardinals' student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or better and reaching Athletic Director's Honor Roll status. Â A total of 117 UofL student-athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA for the 2020 Spring Semester.
Sixteen Cardinal sports teams are among the upper half of scores from across the nation within their respective sports for their multiyear APR and nine rank among the upper third nationally. All 23 UofL sports teams -- including 10 men's and 13 women's sports -- have a four-year APR score above 960, well above the minimum of 930 when penalties are assessed.
A total of 83 teams from Atlantic Coast Conference member schools, including five from UofL, were honored with APR Public Recognition Awards, second-most among Power 5 conferences. Â The ACC is one of two Power 5 conferences to have at least two teams recognized from each of its member schools. Â The ACC has led all Power 5 conferences in 14 of the 15 years since the NCAA began APR public recognition of Division I teams. Â A total of 525 ACC teams have earned APR Public Recognition Awards over the past six years, which leads all Power 5 conferences.
