Softball Excels in the Classroom in Spring Semester
May 18, 2020 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team completed a successful 2020 spring semester in the classroom, posting a 3.557 team grade-point average. The accomplishment marks the program's 30th straight semester with a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher - a streak dating back to the fall of 2005.
Â
"We pride ourselves on being our best selves in all facets of our lives," said UofL head coach Holly Aprile. "On the field, in the weight room, personally and in the classroom. The standard goes everywhere.
Despite, the disruption to our daily routines, we held each other accountable and we accomplished our mission in the classroom as a team. I am very proud of them but not because of their GPA. I'm proud of them for the ownership that it took to achieve it."
In addition to the team's combined academic mark, 17 student-athletes will be named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 or better GPA. Thirteen softball players including: Lexi Carver, Madison Ciaccio, Taja Felder, Carmyn Greenwood, Eden Mayo, Maddy Newman, Elana Ornelas, Taylor Roby, Paige Schindler, Riley Schindler and Jordyn Wolfe achieved a GPA of at least 3.5.
Â
Celene Funke and sophomore Rebecca Chung each posted a 4.0 GPA in the spring semester, with Funke earning the mark while pursuing her MBA and Chung as a marketing major.
