
Evans, Jones Earn Honors at Louies Student-Athlete Awards Show

The University of Louisville athletics department celebrated the successes of its student-athletes and teams in a virtual broadcast of the seventh-annual Louies Student Awards Show Thursday evening.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville athletics department celebrated the successes of its student-athletes and teams in a virtual broadcast of the seventh-annual Louies Student Awards Show Thursday evening.
For the second straight year, Jazmine Jones served as host of the event. She was joined by Celene Funke (softball), Lamarr "Fresh" Kimble" and master of ceremonies Sean Moth via video as the show aired on Facebook Live.
Following a 28-4 record and an outright Atlantic Coast Conference regular season season title, women's basketball earned several honors.
Jones was tabbed as the Ed Nalley Female Senior of the Year. Jones will depart as one of the most popular players in program history after earning WBCA All-American Honorable Mention, All-ACC First Team, All-ACC Defensive team, All-ACC Academic Team and All-ACC Tournament team honors.
The Tallahassee, Fla.-native, set Louisville's program record with 144 games played and is also a member of the winningest senior class in program history. She was recently selected by the New York Liberty with the 12th pick in the first round of the 2020 WNBA Draft, becoming just the fourth player in program history to be selected in the first round.
Dana Evans was named the adidas High Performance Female Athlete of the Year. Following a breakout junior season, Evans became just the third player in program history to be named a WBCA Coaches' All-America selection.
She was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, All-ACC First Team, All-ACC Academic Team, and All-ACC Tournament Team after pacing the league in 3-point field goals made (90), 3-point field goal percentage (43.1%) and free throw percentage (89.0%). She scored in double figures in 29 of 30 games played and ranked third in the ACC with 18.0 points per game. The Gary, Ind.-native, helped lead the Cardinals to a 28-4 record and the program's first ever outright ACC regular season championship.
