No. 5 Louisville Travels to Georgia Tech on Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following back-to-back wins to get back into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference race, No. 5 Louisville women's basketball (23-3, 12-2) plays at Georgia Tech (17-9, 8-7) on Thursday night at 6 p.m. ET. The game will broadcast on Fox Sports South.

At 12-2 in league play, the Cardinals are a game up on NC State with four games to go in the regular season.

UofL leads the ACC with 16.1 assists per game and ranks second with a 1.14 assist-to-turnover ratio. They have a 1.24 assist-to-turnover ratio in 14 ACC games, which leads the league.

Louisville had 24 assists on 33 buckets in the 82-49 win over Notre Dame on Sunday. Prior to recording 24 assists versus the Fighting Irish, they had just 28 assists combined in their previous three games.

The Cardinals scored 82 points in the win over Notre Dame, which ended a three-game streak of not reaching 70 points. Just eight times this season have they failed to score 70 or more points.

Dana Evans has 75 made 3-pointers this season and is two shy of tying Mariya Moore, who had 77 made 3-pointers in 2015-16, for 10th in single season program history.

The Cards' +15.5 scoring margin in ACC games leads the league and they have won eight games by 11 or more points. On the season, UofL's scoring margin is +16.2 points, which ranks second in ACC and 17th in the NCAA.

Head coach Jeff Walz has been named to the 2020 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's Coach of the Year late season watch list. Despite losing three players to the WNBA draft from last year's team, Louisville enters the week with a 23-3 record and ranks No. 5 in the Associated Press poll.

ABOUT THE YELLOW JACKETS

Georgia Tech is 17-9 overall and 8-7 in ACC play. They have won three of their last four games, including a 65-61 win at No. 4 NC State on Sunday. Three of their last five losses have come in overtime - (L-OT, 67-60 vs. North Carolina; L-OT, 54-49 at Miami; L-OT, 64-61 at Virginia Tech).

The Yellow Jackets were picked 11th and 12th in ACC preseason polls, but find themselves squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble in head coach Nell Fortner's first year.

They lead the ACC and rank fourth in the country with 51.8 points per game allowed. They also lead the league with a +3.5 turnover margin. They are scoring 62.8 points per game, which ranks 12th in the ACC.

The Yellow Jackets feature a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures and another at 9.1 points per game - senior Francesca Pan (12.9 pg), sophomore Jasmine Carson (11.1 pg), junior Kierra Fletcher (10.1 pg), junior Lorela Cubaj (10.1 pg) and sophomore Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (9.1 pg).

Fletcher ranks sixth in the league with 35.4 minutes per game, while Pan ranks ninth with 34.9 minutes per game. Fletcher's 1.45-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks ninth in the ACC.

Series History - UofL is 6-0 all-time against Georgia Tech and all six meetings have taken place since the Cardinals joined the ACC. Louisville is 3-0 against the Yellow Jackets at the KFC Yum! Center and 2-0 in Atlanta. In 2018-19, Louisville won 74-71 at Georgia Tech as Myisha Hines-Allen's layup with two seconds to go gave them the victory.

The Last Meeting (Jan. 13, 2019) - Asia Durr scored 21 points as Louisville rolled past Georgia Tech, 61-44, at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville opened the game by scoring the first 10 points and jumped out to an early 15-2 lead. Durr led the charge early with two three-pointers and finished the quarter with 10 points to help give the Cardinals a 24-14 advantage. Louisville outscored the Yellow Jackets by seven points the rest of the way and cruised to a 61-44 win.
