
#17 Cardinals Set for Showdown with #2 Georgetown Tuesday Night

Louisville is coming off of a 2-1 win over #17 Virginia Tech Friday night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 17th ranked University of Louisville men's soccer team is coming off an upset of No. 17 Virginia Tech Friday night, as the Cardinals return to action at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium Tuesday (Sept. 24), when UofL takes on No. 2 Georgetown at 7 p.m. The game will mark the first time a Louisville team will be featured on a live broadcast on the new ACC Network.

Senior midfielder Cherif Dieye was named the ACC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23

He is the first Cardinal to earn the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award since Tim Kubel on Sept. 5, 2017.

Dieye earns his first ACC Player of the week honor after scoring a pair of goals in an upset win over No. 17 Virginia Tech Friday night (Sept. 20). It was Dieye's first multi-goal game of his career, as both goals game in the final eight minutes of the game.

With the Cardinals trailing 1-0, Dieye scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute. After a long pass from Louka Masset, Dieye snuck past a Hokie defender and fired a shot into the upper right corner of the far post.

Less than four minutes later, Dieye found the back of the net again in what proved to be the game-winner in the 85th minute. His fourth goal of the season came on a shot inside the left post from about 30 yard outs.
