No. 14 UofL and No. 8 UK meet for the 33rd time
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 14th ranked University of Louisville men's soccer team is set for the annual Battle of the Bluegrass State, as the Cardinals take on the 8th ranked Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday, September 3, at 7:30 p.m. inside Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer. It has been presented annually since 1967 and honors the United Soccer Coaches National Players of the Year in NCAA Division I men's and women's soccer based on voting conducted by NCAA Division I coaches.

Elveroth and 35 other men's players were named to the watch list. He is one of only two forwards on the list from the ACC.

Of the current 24 Division I soccer conferences, Louisville has taken on at least one school in all but one of those leagues. The only remaining conferences the Cardinals have yet to play is the Northeast Conference.

With a tie against Cleveland State, the Cardinals are now 17-19-5 all-time in season openers. UofL is unbeaten in their last seven season openers. Louisville played to a 2-2 tied against Cleveland State and a scoreless tie against Butler in 2016. The Cards last loss in a season opener came in came on August 26, 2012 when they fell to No. 9 Maryland 3-0. Louisville would get revenge on Maryland two years later when they knocked off the then-No. 2 Terrapins 1-0 on Aug. 29, 2014.
