Senior Megan Hensley becomes Louisville's only three-time all-region honoree
The University of Louisville's Megan Hensley has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region first team. She is now eligible for 2019 NFCA Division I All-America honors.
Â
This marks the third time Hensley has earned all-region honors after being named to the third team in 2018 and the second team in 2016, becoming the only player in program history to earn NFCA all-region honors three times. The senior utility player/pitcher leads the Cardinals with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs as well as a .655 slugging percentage and a .436 on-base percentage. She carries a 9-3 record in the circle with a team-best four shutouts to go along with 89 strikeouts in 101.1 innings of work.
Â
Hensley (Ashland, Ky.) is currently ranked among the top 10 in several Louisville career hitting and pitching categories. She is tied for first in grand slams (four), third in RBI (172) and home runs (37), fifth in career saves (nine) seventh in wins (50) and innings pitched (534.1) and eighth in batters struck out (367).
Â
She is Louisville's only first team selection as a member of the Southeast Region (starting in 2015) and the first player to earn first team honors since 2012 when the Cardinals placed four on the All-Great Lakes Region first team.
Â
Louisville (33-21) earned the program's 14th NCAA tournament bid and will face Southern Illinois in the first game of the Evanston Regional Friday at 1 p.m. (ET). The game will be shown on ESPN3.
