
Louisville to Play in 2019 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam

The women’s tournaments will take place Thursday, Nov. 28 through Saturday, Nov. 30 with four games each day.
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – University of Louisville women's basketball will compete in the 2019 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, which was announced late Monday night.
The announcement includes bracketing and official tipoff times for all 24 games of the men's and women's tournaments at the 20th annual Paradise Jam, held Nov. 22-30, 2019 at the University of the Virgin Islands' Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas. All games for the upcoming 2019 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam will stream online at FloHoops.com.
The 2019 Paradise Jam features ten alumni teams, including one previous Paradise Jam champion school. Four men's teams, Fordham, Illinois State, Nevada, and Valparaiso, have previously competed in the Paradise Jam. As well as six women's teams, Baylor, Indiana, Louisville, Oregon, South Carolina and Washington State, have also previously competed in the Paradise Jam. U.S. Virgin Island's own Aliyah Boston will return to St. Thomas representing the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The women's tournaments will take place Thursday, Nov. 28 through Saturday, Nov. 30 with four games each day. The women's tournaments feature two four-team tournaments competing in round-robin play for separate tournament championships.

Oregon, Louisville, Oklahoma State, and UT Arlington will compete in the Paradise Jam Island Division with daily tipoffs at 2 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Baylor, Indiana, South Carolina and Washington State will compete in the Paradise Jam Reef Division with nightly tipoffs at 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m.

In light of Mother's Day this past weekend, the women's tournament will feature its first mother daughter rivalry in the Island Division. Krista Gerlich, head coach of UT Arlington will face her daughter Bryn Gerlich and Oklahoma State for the first time in either of their collegiate careers. This match up will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.

The men's Paradise Jam will tipoff Friday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. AST (1 p.m. EST) as the Valparaiso University Crusaders face the Grand Canyon Antelopes. Fordham University and Nevada will face off at 4:15 p.m., followed by Illinois State and Cincinnati at 6:45 p.m. The opening round concludes with a 9 p.m. tipoff between Bowling Green and Western Kentucky.

Losing teams will compete in their second game the following day, Saturday, Nov. 23 with tipoffs scheduled at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Winning teams will have a one-day respite, before facing off in the semifinals, Sunday, Nov. 24. The first semifinal will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. All teams will return to the UVI Sports and Fitness Center on Monday for the final days of competition. The seventh-place game will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the fourth-place game at 4:15 p.m., third-place game at 6:45 p.m., and the men's championship game at 9 p.m.
