
No. 4 Louisville Plays at Virginia on Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 4 Louisville women's basketball (23-2, 10-2) looks to get back in the win column when it plays at Virginia (10-15, 4-8) on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET.

The 79-73 loss to Miami on Sunday ended an 18-game winning streak at the KFC Yum! Center for the Cardinals. They now look to avoid losing two straight games for the first time in two seasons when they lost consecutive games to NC State (L, 72-70) and at Notre Dame (L, 85-66) in early February 2017.

Following Sunday's loss, UofL is 223-21 when surpassing the 70-point plateau under head coach Jeff Walz. They have scored 70-plus in 21 of 25 games this season and are 20-1 in those games. The loss ended a 49-game winning streak when scoring 70-plus points. They last lost when scoring 70-plus vs. Notre Dame in ACC Tourney on March 4, 2017 (L, 84-73).

Louisville has won 89 consecutive games against non-AP Top 25 teams. Their last loss a 79-66 setback vs. unranked Dayton in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. on Nov. 29, 2015.

Evans and Shook were a combined 8-12 (.667) from 3-pt range in the loss vs. Miami, while the rest of team was 3-22 (.136).

UofL gave up a season-high 32 points to Miami in the fourth quarter. The previous high was 29 in the fourth vs. Western Kentucky. It marks the most points allowed in a quarter since Dayton scored 33 in the fourth on Nov. 29, 2015 (L, 79-66).

Earlier this season, UofL's 48-point win (W, 91-43) over Virginia marked its biggest margin of victory in ACC history. The previous record was a 42-point win (W, 71-33) vs. Clemson on Jan. 28, 2016. They also held Virginia to just one free throw (1-4) which marked the fewest amount of free throws allowed since Clemson had just one free in the same game (1-6).Â

Virginia enters Thursday's game with a 10-15 overall record, 4-8 in ACC, in head coach Tina Thompson's first year at the helm. They are 7-7 at home and 3-3 in ACC home games.
