No. 2 Louisville hosts No. 20 Miami on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 2 Louisville women's basketball (23-1, 10-1) looks to extend its nine-game winning streak when it hosts No. 20 Miami (21-5, 9-2) on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET in the annual Play4Kay Pink Game.

After holding opponents to less than 50 points in six of nine games, UofL's scoring defense has improved from 64.3 to 59.1 points per game and moved from 182 to 64 nationally. During that nine-game stretch, opponents are averaging 50.4 points per game, while shooting .325 from the floor and .263 from 3-point range.

In ACC games, UofL ranks first in the league in scoring defense (53.1), field goal percentage defense (.329), and second in 3-pt field goal percentage defense (.236).

In the 72-63 win over Virginia Tech last Sunday, Asia Durr (34) and Sam Fuehring (21) combined for 55 of UofL's 72 points. It marked Durr's season high in points and Fuehring's career high. The duo combined to shoot 19-32 (.594), while the rest of the team shot 8-29 (.276)

Fuehring is averaging 10.5 points, which ranks second on the team, while shooting 91-168 (.542) from the floor, which ranks 11th in the ACC. Her 6.9 rebounds also lead the team.

She recorded her fourth double-double of the season and eighth of her career with 21 points and 13 rebounds at Va Tech. She had 10 points and 12 rebounds vs. UConn, 13 points and 14 rebounds vs. Georgia Tech and 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. Nebraska.

She has scored in double figures in 13 of 24 games. In ACC play, she is averaging 9.5 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Durr continues to rack up accolades and recently was named to the Wooden Late Season Top 20, Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Top 10 and a Senior CLASS Award Finalist. She ranks second in program history with 2,228 points and 342 made 3-pointers.

She is averaging 21.1 points per game, which ranks second in the ACC and 12th in the country. She is connecting on 2.8 3-point field goals per game, which ranks fourth in the ACC. She is averaging 23.8 points vs. AP Top 25 teams. She is 89-105 (.848) from the free throw line, which ranks fifth in the ACC.

She has 12 career 30-point games and 51 career 20-point games.

ABOUT THE HURRICANES

Miami enters Sunday's matchup with a 21-5 record and they are 9-2 in the ACC, just one game back of Louisville. Miami ranks third in the ACC with a .451 field goal percentage and ranks second with a .360 field goal percentage defense. Their +8.3 rebounding margin ranks second in the league.

Junior forward Beatrice Mompremier was named ACC Player of the Week last week after averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, while shooting 60 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Hurricanes that included an upset of No. 4 Notre Dame. She had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 72-65 win over the Fighting Irish, in addition to aiding a Miami defense that limited Notre Dame to its lowest point total and field goal percentage of the season. In addition to amassing her 18th and 19th double-doubles of the season, Mompremier closed out the week by tallying her fifth 20-point game. She ranks seventh in the league with 16.6 points, second with 11.8 rebounds, and ninth with a .550 field goal percentage. She ranks first with 3.8 offensive rebounds per game and second with 8.0 defensive rebounds.

Senior center Emese Hof almost averages a double-double with 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mykea Gray is the team's third double-digit scorer with 12.4 points per game, while shooting 46-137 (.336) from deep. Junior guard Laura Cornelius averages 9.9 points, while shooting 39-105 (.371) from deep and dishing out a team-high 4.2 assists. Sophomore guard Kelsey Marshall averages 8.6 points and leads the team in 3-pointers made with 54 (54-140, .386).

Series History - UofL is 4-1 all-time against Miami and has won the last four contests. The Cardinals are 2-1 at home and 2-0 at the KFC Yum! Center. Last season, Louisville won 84-74 at Miami. In the two matchups at the KFC Yum! Center, UofL won 63-59 on Jan. 15, 2017 and 68-55 on Jan. 25, 2015.
