Junior Maddy Newman takes over the team blog to recap day three
Junior Maddy Newman takes a turn on the team blog as the University of Louisville softball team finished the midway point of the Oklahoma City Challenge.
Â
"On day three of the OKC Challenge we competed in an event called 'Move the Mountain.' The competition took place in Trager Stadium and the objective of this event was to work as a team to move seven items down and back from the 50-yard line before the other team could. The seven items included: two 10kg plates, two wooden planks, a 100 lb. sand bag, a 150 lb. sled and a 205 lb. prowler.
Â
The instructions were that the 10kg plates and the wooden planks had to remain on the ground while pushing them back and forth from the 50-yaerd line. The 100 lb. sandbag had to be off of the ground and carried, the 150 lb. sled was pulled, and the 205 lb. + prowler was pushed. Additionally, each team had to make a lineup which was used to determine who would move an item and when. Only two people were allowed to move two items at a time and if needed, they could run back to where they started and get the next person in the lineup to help them out.
Â
There were three different rounds. The first round was worth 50 points and earned by going down and back twice to the 50-yard line while the second and third rounds were both worth 25 points earned by going down and back from the 50-yard line one time.
Â
The Red Squad took the first round and earned 50 points, but the Black Squad bounced back, winning both the second and third rounds to tie the score 50-50.
Â
This event was both mentally and physically challenging but both teams showed a great amount of effort and competitiveness to finish day three out with a bang."
