Cards Drop Road Contest to 11th Ranked Tigers

CLEMSON, S.C. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team dropped an ACC road contest Friday night (Oct. 11), as the Cardinals fell to No. 11 Clemson 4-0. Louisville is now 5-4-2 on the season.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard with a pair of goals in the first half, coming in the 26th and 34th minutes. Despite trailing 2-0 at the break, the Cardinals had five shots, compares to the Tigers six.
The second half saw the Cardinals with six shots, two of which came on target. Clemson added to its lead with a goal in the 62nd minute.
After the third Tiger goal, the Cards had a pair of chances by Cherif Dieye and Izaiah Jennings, but were turned away by the Clemson keeper. In the 68th minute, Liam Bennett was given a red card, forcing Louisville to play a man-down the final 23 minutes.
The Tigers added one final goal when they converted on a penalty kick with only three seconds left in the game.
The Cardinals return to Lynn Stadium Tuesday, October 15, to face Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m.
