
Jordan and Funke Earn Google Cloud Softball Academic All-America Honors

Jenna Jordan named to second team, Celene Funke selected to third team
The University of Louisville's Jenna Jordan and Celene Funke have earned 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Softball honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Jordan was named to the second team while Funke was a third team selection.
They become the third and fourth Academic All-America honorees, joining Catherine Bishop (2006) and Kristi Cunningham (2009).
To be nominated for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
Jordan is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and recently graduated with magna cum laude honors with a 4.0 G.P.A., while receiving the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Exercise Science Award. The catcher from Ft. Collins, Colo., posted a .272 batting average with three home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 19 runs.
After joining the Cardinals as a sophomore in 2016, she went on to become a three-year starter. Jordan is a two-time NFCA Academic Scholar Athlete, ACC All-Academic Team and ACC academic honor roll member and has been named to the Athletic Director's honor roll in each of her semesters at Louisville.
Funke, a sophomore from Carmel, Ind., carries a 4.0 G.P.A. while majoring in finance. The outfielder earned a starting role this season and led the Cardinals with a .356 batting average and 17 stolen bases and scored 29 runs on the season. Funke was an ACC Academic Honor Roll selection and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her semesters at UofL.
No fewer than 29 of the 33 members of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Softball Team have at least a 3.90 G.P.A., with 19 student-athletes maintaining a 4.00 GPA (or better) as either undergraduate or graduate students. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97.
