Tennis Falls to Wake Forest

Cards return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center next weekend for regular season finale
University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to the No. 26 Wake Forest 5-1 Sunday afternoon in Winston-Salem, N.C.Â
The Demon Deacons (17-10, 5-7 ACC) pulled out to a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point over the Cardinals (13-10, 3-9 ACC).

The No. 34-ranked WFU pair of Chandler Carter and Emma Davis won 6-0 over Louisville's 48th-ranked duo of Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg. Wake Forest clinched the point as Mary Caroline Meredith and Eliza Omirou picked up a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Sena Suswam and Ariana Rodriguez..Â
The Demon Deacons continued their momentum into singles play, as #125-ranked Omirou downed Humberg, 6-1, 6-0 to give the WFU a 2-0 match lead.Â
After the Cardinals put a point on the board with a win at No. 6 when Sena Suswam beat Courtney Meredith 6-4, 6-2. Anna Ulyashchenko beat Raven Neely 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5.
With three matches remaining that split the first two sets, M.C. Meredith clinched with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Tiffany Huber at No. 4.Â
No. 26-ranked Emma Davis rallied from losing a first-set tiebreaker to take the second set, 6-4 and then Davis outlasted Aleksandra Mally to win the third-set match tiebreaker, 11-9.Â
At No. 3, Abbie Pahz split sets but Chandler Carter led, 5-3, in the third set when the match was ended due to inclement weather.Â
The Cardinals return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center next weekend to face Miami on April 20 at 3 p.m. and Florida State on April 22 at 11 a.m. for the final regular season matches.
