Athletics Boasts Top-20 Standing in Learfield Directors’ Cup

The Cardinals’ women’s basketball program accrued 83 points with its trip to the Final Four.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Behind success from its winter sports, University of Louisville's athletics department climbed into the top 20 of the latest Learfield Directors' Cup Division I standings that were announced on Thursday.
Louisville's winter sports accumulated 284 points, vaulting the Cardinals to 18th on the leaderboard. Currently, Louisville is one of eight Atlantic Coast Conference schools in the top 20, the most among all leagues.
The Cardinals gained 83 points from women's basketball, 75 from women's swimming and diving, and 69 from men's swimming and diving. The men's and women's track and field programs contributed 57 points.
Asia Durr, an All-American and the ACC Player of the Year, and senior Myisha Hines-Allen guided the women's basketball program to a school-best 36 victories and the third Final Four in school history.
Mallory Comerford captured her second individual title at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, leading Louisville to a fifth-place finish for the best showing in program history. Seven Cardinals earned All-America honors under head coach Arthur Albiero, the ACC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year.
The men's swimming and diving program had seven individual earns All-America honors, including the 200-medley, 400-medley, and 800-medley relay teams. Nicolas Albiero, the ACC Male Freshman of the Year, secured All-America status after taking sixth in the 100-yard backstroke.
Emmonnie Henderson paced the track and field program at the NCAA Indoor Championships, taking runner-up in the women's shot put. On the men's side, Javen Reeves secured an eighth-place finish in the men's high jump.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
