Myisha Hines-Allen Postgame Comments
(Myisha what's going through your mind right now?)
"A lot. I'm just happy we won, were able to beat a good Pitt team. Going into the ACC tournament, we're going to see the same teams again, so we just want that same celebration, so we have to keep playing hard."
(How much experience do you guys have cutting down nets?)
"That was my first ever, I've never won a championship before in high school or AAU, so this is cool, I like it."
(Myisha, can you wrap up, this is your senior day, you got the net around your neck, ACC Champs, talk about this being your final regular season game at the Yum! Center.)
"We got more business to take care of. I'm not really shocked because I knew we were capable of winning, it's just like it's huge, senior game. I'm happy we were able to play for a championship on my senior day game and just to experience this."
(Would you say that this is the highlight of your career thus far?)
"Yeah. Every time you win a championship, you cut down the net, you wear these t-shirts, you see everyone on the team smiling, you hear the crowd going crazy, it's something you won't forget."
Coach Walz Postgame Comments
(You mentioned never winning a conference title here. How does this feel for you?"
"It's great. It's 11 years in the works. I've got to thank Tom (Jurich), I mean there's no question, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Tom Jurich believing in me 11 years ago. So, this is just as much his work as mine and I am very grateful for that. And then, Christine (Herring) has been along as my SWA and she's been fantastic through all of this for the years that she's helped me and been there for us. And Vince (Tyra) has come in and I think he's done a really nice job too. When all that chaos was going on, he just let us focus on what we do. But, I definitely want to thank Tom because it is something that we have talked about, building a program and not just a team. And I think we have done that over 11 years. We've turned this into a nationally known program that is going to be there year in and year out."
(Do you think ball movement tonight was better than it was on Thursday?)
"Yeah, I thought we moved the ball much better. We just got a little sloppy at times and those are the areas we have to clean up. We started the game, I think with seven assists and one turnover and the next thing you know I get the next stat sheet and it's eight assists and four turnovers. Those are the times of the game we need to eliminate and as soon as we can get that then we're going to be taken care. We gave a little math quiz at halftime. We're shooting about 60% from the field and then we had five turnovers right there in the last five minutes of the second quarter, so I gave them the old math quiz of if we get shots instead of turnovers, how many shots would we make if we're shooting 60%? We got that answer right, which was good. Then I'm trying to explain, instead of being up 16, you're up 22 just by getting shots instead of throwing the ball out of bounds and being sloppy with it. So, we like to have a little fun with it, but 16 turnovers are too many for us. We've got to get this thing down to 12 or 13 and then I can live with that especially with how we try to push things in transition at times. We just have to eliminate the sloppiness."
