
Louisville plays No. 19 Arizona State, Hartford in South Point Shootout

The Cardinals will play the Sun Devils at 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday and the Hawks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas
The Cardinals utilized a 19-3 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Broncos on Monday night after leading 31-28 at halftime. They outscored Boise State 22-13 in the third.

On the season, Louisville has outscored opponents 83-31 in the third quarter. They led WKU 54-43 at halftime and then took control of the game by outscoring the Hilltoppers 31-8 in the third. At Chattanooga, they led 28-21 at half and won the third quarter 30-10 to open up the game.

Asia Durr is averaging 25.7 points per game through three games, which leads the ACC and ranks fifth in the country. She is connecting on 5.3 3-point field goals per game, which leads the ACC and ranks third in the nation.

She had a team-high 20 points and four assists, while adding seven rebounds, in the win at Boise State. She now has scored 20-plus points in all three games this season and has 40 20-plus point games in her career.

Durr passed Jazz Covington for fifth all-time in scoring at UofL with 20 points at Boise State. She now has 1,820 points and is 79 points away from tying Nell Knox for 4th place.

Arica Carter ranks second on the team with 12.7 points per game and is shooting 9-14 (.643) from distance. She had 16 points and tied her career high with four made 3-pointers (4-5) at Boise State.

Associate head coach Stephanie Norman was a four-year letterwinner at Arizona State, serving as the Sun Devils' captain during her junior and senior seasons. She earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors in consecutive years (1987-88).
ABOUT THE SUN DEVILS
Last season, Arizona State went 22-13 overall and 10-8 in Pac-12 play. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large as a 7-seed, downing Nebraska, 73-62, in the first round before falling to Texas, 85-65. The Sun Devils return all five starters from last year and have opened the season with a 2-1 record, falling 65-59 to Baylor in the Showdown on the Rez and winning at Arkansas, 88-85. They are led by senior forward Kianna Ibis, an all-Pac-12 performer. Last year, she started every game and led ASU in scoring (12.9 ppg/t-16th in Pac-12) and 3-point FG pct. (40.9), was 2nd in rebounds (5.1 rpg) and O-Rebs (1.9 rpg), 3rd in FG pct. (49.5/5th in Pac-12), 4th in FT pct. (76.1) and 5th in steals (0.9 spg) and assists (1.0 apg). In three games this season, she leads the team with 14.7 points per game, while shooting 19-38 from the floor, and ranks second with 5.7 rebounds per game.
Series History - Louisville is 0-2 all-time against Arizona State and both games have been played on neutral courts. They fell 67-58 on March 19, 2007 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Los Angeles. That game also marks the last game where Jeff Walz was not the Cards' head coach. On Dec. 2, 1983, UofL fell 59-56 at the Indiana Converse Classic in Bloomington, Ind.

ABOUT THE HAWKS
Hartford went 19-13 overall and 9-7 in the American East a year ago. They fell 74-65 to Maine in the American East championship game. They return three starters from last year as head coach Kim McNeill enters her third season. The Hawks have opened the season with a 2-3 record, downing Harvard at home on Wednesday, 73-60. They hung tight at No. 25 Miami on Nov. 11, eventually falling, 75-62. They are led by junior Sierra DaCosta, who is averaging 17.8 points per game, while shooting 57 percent from the floor. She ranks second on the team with 4.4 rebounds. She played alongside Bionca Dunham at Imhotep (Philadelphia, Pa.) as a senior in high school. The duo led Imhotep to a 2016 Public League championship.
Series History - Louisville is 2-1 all-time against Hartford, their last matchup a 62-50 Cards defeat in Hartford, Conn on Nov. 17, 2009. The Cards won the other two matchups in Louisville, 80-50 on Dec. 28, 1991 and 74-42 on Dec. 10, 2008.
