Many fans got their first look at this year’s team at the annual tip-off luncheon on Friday afternoon.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As the University of Louisville women's basketball season inches closer, many fans got their first look at this year's team at the annual tip-off luncheon on Friday afternoon.
The luncheon opened with a highlight video that excited the sold-out crowd and then Sean Moth introduced the 2018-19 version of the Louisville women's basketball team.
Following a three-course meal, Moth held a question-and-answer session with seniors Arica Carter and Asia Durr.
Head coach Jeff Walz then stepped to the podium to thank the crowd and offer fans insight on this year's team.
Walz closed by asking the crowd to make the drive to Bowling Green, Ky., to support the Cardinals when they open the season at Western Kentucky on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The Cardinals are coming off a program-best 36-3 record and their third trip to the Final Four in the last 10 years.
Earlier this week, the Cards were picked second in both Atlantic Coast Conference preseason polls, while Durr was named to the preseason All-ACC Team.
Louisville opens its season at Western Kentucky and will play their first five games on the road, including the Southpoint Shootout on Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas.
The Cardinals make their home debut on Monday, Nov. 26 against Miami (Ohio) and will host Connecticut, Kentucky, North Carolina and Duke among others at the KFC Yum! Center.
