The four will take part in an annual professional development event in late January in Indianapolis.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Two interns and two graduate assistants in the University of Louisville athletics department were selected to attend the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar from Jan. 24-26 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis.
UofL and adidas interns Bryan Hirt from the ticket office and Bo Nahstoll from Cardinal Athletic Fund along with Caroline Comey and Stephanie Saculles from academic services will participate in a three-day program that educates, develops, and connects selected participants, and can increase the likelihood for rapid career progression within college athletics.
“In my first year of graduate school, recently having finished my playing career, I was still learning the inner workings of athletics and was very fortunate to be selected to attend the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar,” campus and community relations coordinator Monica Negron said after attending the event in 2015. “The seminar taught me ways to work with diverse populations based on personality profiles and solidified my passion in wanting to work toward enhancing the student-athlete experience with each step in my career pathway.”
The professional development event, held annually, provides effective leadership, educational, and transitional programing for more than 200 current graduate assistants and interns from NCAA membership schools, conference offices, and affiliate organizations. It offers an in-depth look at the role of NCAA governance, including the differences in the divisions and the role of conference offices, and provides the opportunity to identify and network with key decision makers within college athletics.
For those interested in becoming future adidas interns within the Louisville athletics department, the application opens between late March and early April.
The one-of-a-kind partnership between Louisville and adidas provides those selected students roles in a real-world, career-building internship model to prepare them to become next-generation athletics administrators and sports industry professionals. It is an exclusive nine-month program, with interns assigned to various departments within ULAA depending on the individual's preferences, interests, and/or skill sets.
