September 30, 2017 | Women's Basketball
Durr is one of five collegiate All-Americans included on the training camp roster.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – University of Louisville junior guard Asia Durr wrapped up her first day of practice at USA Basketball National Team Training Camp.
She is just one of five collegiate All-Americans included on the training camp roster, which includes 25 WNBA players.
Durr spoke about her experiences.
How did the first practice with the USA National Team go for you?
The first practice has been good. I'm just trying to learn from the greats, from the vets. So, it's been pretty good. It's definitely going to be a learning experience for me, so that's all I'm trying to do is learn.
Have you been picking anyone's brains for pointers?
I've been trying to, yes. Sue Bird has been great as a leader of this camp, so I'm just trying to follow her lead.
How much do you think this will help you going into the season?
I think this is going to help out a whole lot, learning from the greats and I can hopefully take that back to my team.
The camp helps identify and prepare athletes for future USA National Team events, including the 2018 USA World Cup Team.
The USA will train at 10 a.m. (PDT) daily, with sessions at Westmont College on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. On Oct. 2, the USA National Team's practice will be held at the University of California, Santa Barbara Recreation Center's Robertson Gymnasium.
