Kristin Engle transferred to Louisville after one semester at Tennessee.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A highly rated recruit from the state of Kentucky, Kristin Engle has signed a financial aid agreement to continue her collegiate golf career at the University of Louisville.
“I'm excited that we can add a golfer of Kristin's caliber to our team, and we're happy she is returning to her home state,” head coach Courtney Trimble said. “She has a terrific passion for the game, and she'll complement our team really well.”
Engle, a sport administration major, has enrolled at UofL for the fall semester after completing one semester of school at Tennessee. She is eligible to play immediately.
“I'm really excited to be playing for the University of Louisville and to be back in my home state,” Engle said. “The coaches, team, and practice facility are all amazing, and I can't wait to get the season started.”
The Barbourville, Ky., native was the top-ranked player in the state of Kentucky and the 10th-ranked player nationally in the 2017 class, according to Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings.
In 2016, Engle captured the AJGA City of London championship and secured runner-up finishes that year in the AJGA Junior Owensboro and PGA Junior Series events. She carded a career-low 68 – 30 on the back nine – in the 2016 PGA Junior Series event.
Over a four-year span, Engle was crowned the Kentucky Class 'A' Region individual champion three times: 2013, 2015, and 2016. In 2015, she also earned all-region and all-state honors.
During her prep career, Engle directed Barbourville High to consecutive state titles in 2015 and 2016 and a Region 9 championship in 2015. She logged a 71.6-stroke average as a senior, including a 7-under-par in two 54-hole events in 2016.
