LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As a way to ring in the new school year, the University of Louisville athletics department is hosting its second annual 'Night Under the Lights' on Thursday at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Soccer Stadium.
The free event features the second annual freshman movie night, a pre-movie pep rally in which students will learn the fight song and student section chants, a class picture, and a chance to win concert tickets – all part of 'UofL Welcome Week.'
Doors open at 8:30 p.m., followed by the pep rally at 9 p.m., and Disney's hit remake 'Beauty and the Beast' at 9:30 p.m.
Louisville athletics partnered with Transit Authority of River City to provide transportation for students, with the shuttles picking up at Grawemeyer Hall and dropping off passengers at the soccer stadium.
As part of the pre-movie pep rally, students will be taught the school's fight song along with chants and cheers to help boost the student section leading up to the start of the fall sports season. Well-known public address announcer Sean Moth, Louie, the Ladybirds, and members of The Ville'ns will be in attendance as well.
Students will take a Class of 2021 picture and be provided ticketing information on all UofL sports.
Additionally, all participants will receive a free UofL Athletics T-shirt and can enter to win a pair of Thomas Rhett and Kings of Leon tickets upon arriving. Winners will be announced during the pep rally.
