June 07, 2017 | Women's Basketball
Louisville faces Southeast Missouri on Nov. 10 in the first round of the Preseason WNIT.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team, which was selected to participate in the 2017 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament, learned of its first-round opponent in the event on Wednesday.
Louisville is scheduled to face Southeast Missouri in the opening game on Nov. 10 in the KFC Yum! Center at 7 p.m. ET. The Cardinals' side of the 16-team bracket includes 2016 Postseason WNIT champion Michigan.
Second-round games are being held Nov. 12-14 and the semifinals on Nov. 16. The championship game will be played on Nov. 19 on CBS Sports Network at 3 p.m. ET.
The tournament features a three-game guarantee. If a team loses in the championship bracket before it has played three games, it will compete in the consolation bracket.
Louisville is one of three teams in the tournament ranked in ESPN's early top-25 poll. The Cardinals were selected at No. 10, with Oregon being tabbed No. 13, and Michigan at No. 21.
Louisville has competed in the Preseason WNIT one time previously, logging a 4-0 record in 2013 that included a 97-92 overtime victory over Oklahoma in Norman for the title.
The Cardinals are coming off a 29-8 record, going 12-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Louisville returns starters and All-Americans Asia Durr and Myisha Hines-Allen from last year's team that helped the program advance to its seventh Sweet 16.
