McNary, Meyer and Ferguson named to All-ACC Academic Team
The University of Louisville softball team had three student-athletes named to the All-ACC Academic Softball team as announced by the league office Thursday. Seniors Jordan McNary and Morgan Meyer and freshman Caitlin Ferguson represented the Cardinals on the 30-player team.
Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Â
This marks second All-ACC Academic Team honor for McNary (Madisonville, Ky.). The sport administration major is also a two-time All-ACC selection and a four-year starter in left field for the Cardinals. She finished her senior season with a .327 batting average, 27 runs, 15 RBIs and led the team with 14 stolen bases.
Â
Meyer, a communications major from Louisville, Ky., also earns her second conference all-academic team nod. The 2017 All-ACC second team selection and starting right fielder finished her senior campaign with a .298 batting average and scored 19 runs. She led the Cardinals in conference play with a .379 average against ACC teams.
Â
Ferguson (Versailles, Ky.) had an impressive rookie season. After taking over as Louisville's starting shortstop, the exercise science major produced a .274 batting average, 21 RBIs and 18 runs.
