Athletics Rises to 15th in Latest Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

Louisville is one of three schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the top 15.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville athletics department rose to No. 15 in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division I winter standings, it was announced on Thursday.
Louisville is one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference schools in the top 25, the most of any league in the country.
The Cardinals accumulated 308.5 points during the winter season, led by 73.5 points from the women's swimming and diving program. Mallory Comerford, who was crowned co-national champion in the 200-free, was one of a nation-leading 11 Americans. Behind her performance, the school matched a program best with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
The men's swimming and diving team placed 11th at the national championships, collecting 66 points for the school in the cup standings. The Cardinals set 11 school records at the event.
The women's indoor track and field team also had a strong showing on the national stage, placing 18th. Dolly Nyemah took runner-up in the weight throw, while Emmonnie Henderson registered a sixth-place finish in the shot put.
The Cardinals' men's and women's basketball programs secured a combined 114 points. Louisville's men's basketball team capped the year at 25-9 for their 15th-consecutive 20-win season. The women's team advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, logging a 29-8 record to tie for the third-most victories in a season in school history.
The next Division I standings will be released April 13.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
