April 28, 2017 | Rowing
Cardinals and Wolverines will compete in six races starting at 9:15 a.m., ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville rowing team will challenge No. 4 Michigan on Sunday in Belleville, Michigan. The duel will begin at 9:15 a.m., ET with the third varsity eight and racing will conclude at 10:30 a.m., with the varsity eight.
The Cardinals will also have second varsity eight, varsity four, second varsity and third varsity four crews competing against the Wolverines. Sunday's duel will be Louisville's final competition prior to the 2017 ACC Championship on May 14 in Clemson, S.C. Last week, the Cardinals competed at the Clemson Invitational advancing five crews to "A" finals.
"We had mixed results across the board at the Clemson Invitational last weekend with some boats underperforming and some boats performing very well. We are excited to see Michigan this weekend to get our top boats back on track and to see more gains in speed in the others," said Louisville head coach Derek Copeland. "We saw Michigan at the beginning of the season at the Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge and we're looking to close the gap on the No. 4 Wolverines in our last regular season race. This will be a big factor in our preparation for the ACC Championship next month."
