No. 18 Rowing Registers Three Top-Five Finishes at Clemson Invite

Cardinals take fourth in 3V8+ “A” final and fifth in the V4+ and 2V4+ “A” finals
CLEMSON, S.C. - The 18th-ranked Louisville rowing team concluded the Clemson Invitational with a trio of top-five finishes in the "A" finals Sunday morning at Lake Hartwell.
Louisville's third varsity eight crew of Margaret Geraghty (coxswain), Gabi Biedenharn, Gillian Burns, Vanessa Fiedler, Kylie Noltemeyer, Riley Kerber, Abigail Davies, Mallory Burnett and Caroline Lynch earned a fourth-place finish in its "A" final with a time of 7:17.601, while Texas paced the way at 7:05.616. Virginia was second at 7:11.006 and was followed by Syracuse (7:15.626), Louisville, Ohio State (7:18.209), Wisconsin (7:18.625) and Indiana (7:33.739).
The crew of Kate Allport (coxswain), Claire Bahain, Elizabeth Patrick, Hannah Richardson and Rachael Schmetzer rowed to a fifth-place finish in the varsity four "A" final covering the course in a time of 7:28.373 for the Cardinals, while Ohio State set the pace at 7:18.540. Wisconsin was second at 7:19.095 and was followed by Texas (7:20.750), Virginia (7:24.217), Louisville, Duke (7:32.920) and Oklahoma (7:35.803).
Louisville's third top-five finish of the morning came in the second varsity four "A" final as the crew of Perie Howard (coxswain), Rebecca Yaklic, Kiara Loucks, Emma Ison and Mackenzie Garland finished in a time of 7:53.462. Ohio State earned the win in a time of 7:31.100 and was followed by Texas (7:38.664), Duke (7:45.085), Virginia (7:45.448), Louisville, Oklahoma (7:55.378) and Clemson (7:56.347). The Cardinals also earned a sixth-place finish in the varsity eight "B" final and a sixth-place result in the second varsity eight "B" final.
Sunday's finals schedule and assignments were determined with morning and afternoon heat races on Saturday at Lake Hartwell.
Up next, the No. 18 Louisville rowing team will compete at Michigan on April 30.
