Dana Evans was named to the Naismith Trophy and WBCA High School All-America teams.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball signee Dana Evans has earned more accolades during her high school career than she can probably remember.
The 5-foot-6 guard added two more prestigious awards to her collection this week, when she was named to the Naismith Trophy High School Girl's All-America Team and the WBCA High School Coaches' All-America Team.
Evans finished her career at West Side High in Indiana with 2,382 points, fifth most on the state's scoring list. She led the state in scoring for the second-consecutive year, averaging 36 points per game to go with 7.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 4.8 steals, and earned Times Indiana Player of the Year honors for the second-consecutive season.
The Gary, Ind., product and Miss Indiana Basketball candidate directed her school in early February to its third sectional title in four years. She scored 30 points in the victory, pushing her past Notre Dame and WNBA star Skylar Diggins on Indiana's state scoring list.
A five-star prospect, Evans is ranked seventh overall in the class of 2017, according to espnW HoopGurlz. She is rated third at the guard position by espnW.
Evans will play on a national stage, when she competes with the East Team in the McDonald's All-American Game on March 29 on ESPNU in Chicago's United Center. She faces future teammate Loretta Kakala, who was selected to the West Team.
