Men’s swimming and diving victorious for the four-peat
On Tuesday, January 31, the University of Louisville Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the seventh-annual student-athlete talent show at the School of Music's Comstock Hall. The event was a huge success with countless student-athletes and staff members in attendance showing their support for the 10 performances.
The SAAC is proud to announce that $700 was raised for Metro Parks Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation, an organization which offers a wide range of recreational activities for individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, along with their friends and family. This organization was represented by crowd favorite, BJ Levis who teaches the class "Diverse Populations in Physical Activity and Health" in the College of Education.
The men's swimming and diving team took home the first place trophy for the fourth year in a row with a performance showcasing a variety of musical talents ranging from singing to cello playing.
Nolan Smith, senior and four-time champion, stated, "We are really proud of what we've been able to accomplish. We've had a long line of talented individuals and we are glad we could bless the student athlete landscape with our numerous skills and abilities."
Women's basketball took second place with a fantastic dance routine led by senior, Cortnee Walton. Honorable mentions go to: Rowing with an unforgettable performance of solo artist, Amelia Herrera, performing an acoustic version of "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)" and women's soccer, who executed a flawless dance routine.
President of SAAC and baseball senior, Colin Lyman, loved the quality of entertainment from the night's events. "Although baseball's performance of the Macarena was subpar, I was thoroughly impressed by the talent showcased during our event. It was a night of comedy, raw talent and pure entertainment."
