Team Records and Series Notes
- Louisville earned an 88-70 victory over Virginia Tech, improving to 21-6, 8-4 in ACC play.
- The victory gave the Cardinals an 18-17 series advantage, now winning the last three decisions.
- Louisville returns to action on Sunday, when it plays host to Boston College. The Cardinals have a 3-1 series advantage and won last year's meeting 55-45 on Feb. 21, 2016, in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Louisville Team Notes
- Louisville had three players (Myisha Hines-Allen, Mariya Moore, Sam Fuehring) register a double-double, marking the first time the feat has been accomplished since 2009. Angel McCoughtry, Candyce Bingham, and Dez Byrd each earned a double-double against Syracuse on Feb. 3.
- Louisville shot a season-best 57.8 percent (37 of 64) from the field, including 12-of-14 stint in the fourth quarter.
- It's the highest percentage the Cardinals have recorded since shooting 58.2 percent (32 of 55) against Pittsburgh on Feb. 11, 2016.
- Louisville improved to 6-0 this year, 84-1 under head coach Jeff Walz, when connecting on at least 50 percent of its shots.
- The Cardinals outrebounded the Hokies 48-27 for a plus-21 margin. It is tied for the second-best rebounding margin this season (plus-21 against USF), only trailing Louisville's plus-34 performance against Lafayette.
- It is the 11th time this season the Cardinals have scored at least 80 points in a game.
- The Cardinals improved to 14-2 this year, 172-19 under Walz, when eclipsing the 70-point plateau.
- Louisville dished out 22 assists on 37 field goals. It is the seventh time this year the Cardinals have accumulated at least 20 helpers.
- The Cardinals recorded 48 points in the paint, hitting the 30-point mark for the 18th time.
- Louisville outscored Virginia Tech 30-14 in the fourth period, the most points in the final quarter this year.
- It is the third-most points in the fourth period for the Cardinals since switching to the four-quarter format. Louisville tallied 35 against NC State last season and 32 against Dartmouth earlier in the 2015-16 campaign.
Louisville Player Notes
- Asia Durr finished with a game-high 30 points in the victory, marking her second-consecutive game with at least that many. Notably, for the second-straight contest, she tallied 21 of those points in the second half.
- It is her fourth 30-point game this year, 11th with at least 20 points this season.
- Durr connected on a career-tying best 12 field goals. It is her second-consecutive game with double-digit baskets and fourth of the season.
- Durr hit four 3-pointers – all in the fourth quarter – to give her 85 for the season. She moved into fifth on the school's single-season list. She also extended her consecutive-games streak with at least one trey to 30 games, second most in school history.
- She accumulated a career-tying best three steals, the sixth time she has accomplished the feat in her tenure.
- Mariya Moore earned her second double-double of the season – the first was a triple-double – with 17 points and season-tying best 11 assists. She shot 7 of 11 from the field, 3 of 6 from long range.
- Moore now boasts 199 career 3-pointers and is three shy of passing Jill Morton (201, 1996-00) for fifth on the school's all-time list. It was her 16th-consecutive game with a 3-pointer.
- Moore's 11 assists tied the Cassell Coliseum record, a feat that was achieved four times previously.
- Moore moved into 13th on the school's all-time scoring list, carrying 1,294 points. She passed Becky Burke, who scored 1,288 points from 2008-12.
- Myisha Hines-Allen totaled 13 points and 13 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season. She had 11 points and seven rebounds before halftime.
- With her double-double against Virginia Tech, she tied Janet McNew (1978-83) for the fifth-most career double-doubles (22).
- Hines-Allen hit five field goals in the game and has 564 for her career. She needs four more to pass Sara Nord (567 field goals, 2000-04) for 10th on the school's all-time list.
- Hines-Allen has 1,315 career points and remains in 12th on the school's all-time list. She needs 84 to pass Janet McNew (1,398, 1979-83) for 11th.
- Sam Fuehring came off the bench and totaled 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was her first career double-double.
- Taylor Johnson totaled six points and five rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.
