Asia Durr Rated No. 7 in ESPNW Top 25 Players List
November 09, 2017 | Women's Basketball
The Douglasville, Ga., native was named ACC Preseason Player of the Year.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – ESPNW is listing the top 25 players in the country this week and coming in at No. 7 is University of Louisville junior guard Asia Durr.
Earlier this week, senior forward Myisha Hines-Allen was rated No. 24.
"There are players who will average more points or shoot a better percentage from the 3-point line, although neither list will be that long. But there is no more stomach-churning experience for an opponent than watching Durr hit a couple of shots in a row and knowing they are the first stray pebbles of an avalanche. Healthy last season after an injury-plagued freshman campaign, she proved to be among the most difficult players to defend. With her range, quick release and ability off the dribble, she already has a professional offensive game."Â --Â Graham Hays via espnW.
Durr was selected the 2017-18 Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Player of the Year and has appeared on several publications' all-American teams.
Last season, she became the school's 28th 1,000-point scorer and broke the program's single-season record with 119 3-pointers, while extending her school record for consecutive games with a trey to 39 contests.
She played in 36 games, all starts, averaging 19.2 points, which ranked sixth in school history, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals, while shooting 42 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-pt range.
In addition, ESPNW picked Louisville 10th in their preseason poll and the Cards are a No. 3 seed in the preseason Bracketology release.
Louisville opens its 2017-18 campaign on Nov. 10 at home against Southeast Missouri in the first round of the 2017 Preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament.
It will mark the annual Hoops for Troops game and active and former military members can purchase tickets for just $3 when using the promo code SERVICE. In addition, patriotic UofL t-shirts will be given away to the first 1,000 fans. Click here to purchase your tickets now.
