No. 9 Women’s Basketball Caps Road Swing Sunday at Pittsburgh

The Cardinals and Panthers tip off Sunday on ACC Network Extra at 2 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 9 University of Louisville women's basketball team caps its three-game road swing this weekend, when it plays at Pittsburgh on Sunday in the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., at 2 p.m.
The Jan. 29 game is being broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Jeff Hathhorn (play-by-play) and Amanda Silay (analyst) calling the action. Louisville's radio broadcast can be heard on WKRD 790 AM, featuring Nick Curran (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst).
Louisville (19-4, 6-2 ACC) earned its fourth-consecutive victory, the 800th in program history, when it defeated Clemson 60-46 last time out. The Cardinals held the Tigers to 29.4 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers that led to 17 points.
Myisha Hines-Allen scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the second half, also grabbing a team-best seven rebounds. Mariya Moore and Asia Durr each finished with 13 points, and Briahanna Jackson collected five assists.
This season, Durr is leading the Cardinals with a 16.8 scoring average to go with 74 3-pointers, third-most nationally. The sophomore also has 29 steals. Hines-Allen is hovering a double-double, averaging 13.7 points and 9.1 rebounds, while Moore is contributing 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.
Collectively, the Cardinals boast a plus-16.8 scoring margin and are holding opponents to 36.5 percent from the field.
Pittsburgh (12-8, 3-4) is coming off a 55-42 loss at No. 18 NC State on Thursday. Both teams shot 32.0 percent from the field, but the Wolfpack converted seven more free throws in the victory. NC State also hit 8-of-23 3-pointers, compared to Pittsburgh's 2-of-9 performance from beyond the arc.
Brenna Wise was the Panthers' lone double-digit scorer, tallying seven points on 4-of-8 shooting. Brandi Harvey-Carr added seven points and seven rebounds, and Kalista Walters came off the bench and contributed seven points.
Through 20 games, Wise boasts team highs of 13.9 points and 6.8 points. She also is shooting a team-best 88.0 percent from the free throw line, good enough for 24th nationally. Harvey-Carr is contributing 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds. Jasmine Whitney has a team-leading 74 assists, and Kauai Bradley is first in the program with 39 steals.
Collectively, Pittsburgh ranks in the top-50 nationally in assists per game (No. 33), assist-turnover ratio (No. 37), free throw percentage (No. 41), and field goal percentage defense (No. 48).
SERIES HISTORY – Pittsburgh vs. Louisville
Louisville and Pittsburgh are meeting for the second time this year, the 16th time in series history. The Cardinals have won the last nine meetings, three of those which took place in Pittsburgh.
When the teams met in January, the Cardinals converted 24 turnovers into 27 points and earned a 73-52 victory. Pittsburgh, despite shooting nearly 50 percent, was held to just seven points in the second quarter and nine in the fourth.
Mariya Moore tallied a team-high 18 points in the contest. Jazmine Jones came off the bench and added 13, and Ciera Johnson finished with 11.
In the last meeting in Pittsburgh, Myisha Hines-Allen totaled a then-career high 29 points to lead the Cardinals to an 84-61 victory on Feb. 11, 2016. UofL shot 58.2 percent and outscored the Panthers 26-12 in the final period.
