No. 9 Women’s Basketball Continues Road Swing, Faces Clemson Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 9 University of Louisville women's basketball team continues its road trip this week, when it travels to face Clemson on Thursday in Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C., at 7 p.m.
The Jan. 26 game is being broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Don Munson (play-by-play) and Jim Davis (analyst) calling the action. Louisville's radio broadcast can be heard on WKRD 790 AM, featuring Nick Curran (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst).
Louisville (18-4, 5-2 ACC) is coming off its fourth victory over an Associated Press top-25 team this season, beating No. 23 USF 66-52 on Sunday. The Cardinals outrebounded the Bulls 44-23 and held USF to just 38.5 percent shooting. With the win, Louisville capped its nonconference record in the regular season at 13-2.
Myisha Hines-Allen totaled 27 points and 12 rebounds in the victory for her ninth double-double of the season. She shot 13 of 17 from the field. Asia Durr contributed 13 points, and Mariya Moore finished with five points, five rebounds, and 11 assists. Ciera Johnson came off the bench and had six points and four rebounds.
Durr continues to pace the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game, connecting on 71 3-pointers to go with 27 steals. With her three treys last game, the sophomore moved into 10th on the school's single-season list for 3-pointers in a season.
Hines-Allen is averaging 13.6 points and 9.2 rebounds, while Moore boasts 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. Briahanna Jackson has team highs of 98 assists and 35 steals.
Clemson (11-9, 0-7) has lost its last seven games, recently falling at then-No. 21 NC State on Sunday 65-53. The Tigers trailed by two points heading into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 18-8 in the final period. Clemson scored 42 points in the paint and held NC State to just 34.0 percent shooting, but the Wolfpack converted on 27-of-34 opportunities at the free throw line. Clemson also turned the ball over 17 times that led to 19 NC State points.
Danielle Edwards had a team-high 15 points in the loss, while Jaia Alexander and Kobi Thornton each added 13. Aliyah Collier registered eight points and 14 rebounds. Dominique Wilson scored 16 points in the victory for NC State.
This season, Nelly Perry is leading the team with 14.5 points and 51 assists, but she has been absent following an injury against Virginia Tech on Jan. 8. Edwards is second in scoring at 10.0 points and also boasts a team-high 39 steals. Collier, who is scoring 9.4 points per game, has a team-leading 7.6 rebounding average. She and Thornton are shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
Collectively, Clemson ranks seventh in the conference in offensive rebounding (13.7), ninth in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.304), and 10th in steals (7.9).
SERIES HISTORY – Clemson vs. Louisville
Louisville and Clemson are facing each other for just the sixth time in series history, the third in Clemson. The Tigers hold a 3-2 edge, but the Cardinals have won the last two meetings.
Last season, Louisville posted a 75-33 victory on Jan. 28, 2016, at home. The Cardinals limited the Tigers to 12 first-half points. Myisha Hines-Allen missed the game due to a family matter, but Sam Fuehring filled in and totaled 12 points and five rebounds. Briahanna Jackson had 13 points, and Asia Durr added 12 points.
When the teams met in Clemson, Louisville's first season in the ACC, the Cardinals earned an 81-49 victory on Feb. 12, 2015. Shawnta' Dyer came off the bench and had 20 points for Louisville, which shot 50.0 percent from the field and connected on 22-of-30 free throws. Mariya Moore tallied 15 points and eight assists.
