Asia Durr is one of six selections from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Louisville women's basketball's Asia Durr was named to the John R. Wooden Award® Midseason Top 25, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Wednesday.
Chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are front-runners for the sport's most prestigious honor, based on their performances during the first half of the 2016-17 season.
The ACC leads all conferences with six selections, followed by the Pac-12 with five, the Big Ten and SEC with four each, The American with three, the Big 12 with two, and the BIG EAST with one selection.
A sophomore, Durr is averaging a team-best 17.3 points on 41.2 percent shooting to go with 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals. She has logged 20-point performances six times this season, including a career-best 36 against Syracuse in late December that tied for ninth-most points in a game in school history. Nationally, she ranks fourth in 3-pointers made (60), eighth in 3-pointers per game (3.33), and 35th in total field goals (109).
The Douglasville, Ga., native, Durr was named to the all-ACC's and Blue Ribbon Panel's preseason teams. Last season, she was voted to all-ACC's and Blue Ribbon Panel's freshman teams. She also was selected to the all-ACC Tournament Team.
The leading candidates will be further pared to 20 top players in early February. Fifteen top players who have proven to their universities that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA will be submitted to voters on the final ballot prior to the NCAA Tournament. Voters are permitted to take into consideration the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament when casting the ballot.
The 10-member Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week Elite Eight during the NCAA Tournament.
