Ricardo Oliveros scores second half goal to pull Cardinals even in first of two exhibition matches
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sophomore Ricardo Oliveros connected for a second half goal as the University of Louisville men's soccer team opened its preseason schedule with a 1-1 road draw against Memphis on Saturday night at Christian Brothers University.
Oliveros, who scored one goal last season as a freshman for the Cardinals, provided the equalizer on Saturday night in the 67th minute of action after the home side opened the scoring in the first half. The Tigers moved ahead 1-0 in the 32nd minute when Jackson Morse delivered a header into the net on a set piece from the left side.
Memphis maintained that edge into halftime and for nearly 35 minutes overall before Oliveros pulled the Cardinals even. The match ended after 90 minutes and did not include any extra time.
Up next, Louisville will host the fourth annual Kickoff Banquet on Sunday at 5 p.m., at the PNC Club at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals will conclude their exhibition slate on Aug. 20 at UAB before opening the 2016 regular season schedule at home against Butler on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m., at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
