Cardinals Finish Fifth at 2016 ACC Championship

Kirsti Harrison and Katie Nord earn All-ACC honors; Louisville earns runner-up finish in 3V8+ boat
CLEMSON, S.C. - The University of Louisville rowing team closed the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship with a fifth-place team finish during the final day of racing on Saturday at Lake Hartwell.
The Cardinals scored 60 points overall in the nine-team championship, while fifth-ranked Virginia won its 16th title in the 17 years of the ACC regatta. The Cavaliers swept all five events and scored 99 points, while Duke and Syracuse were tied for second with 75 points each. Notre Dame was fourth with 68 points, while host Clemson was sixth at 47 points. Boston College (31 points), Miami (22 points) and North Carolina (16) rounded out the field.
Louisville had two athletes named to the All-ACC Rowing Team on Saturday morning as sophomore Kirsti Harrison earned first team honors and senior Katie Nord was a second team selection. It marked the second straight season Nord has been tabbed as an All-ACC Second Team honoree.
The Cardinals opened their morning with a fifth-place finish in the varsity eight grand final crossing the line in a time of 6:29.089 and followed that with a fifth-place result in the second varsity eight grand final in a time of 6:38.103. After finishing fifth in the varsity four grand final (7:30.765), Louisville was third in the second varsity four grand final (7:26.668) and second in the third varsity eight grand final (6:35.741).
