
Men's Tennis Tops Belmont 6-1

Cards beat Bruins 6-1
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Belmont 6-1 in the first match of a doubleheader on Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals will play host to Boston College in an ACC matchup in the second half of the twin bill at 4 p.m.
The Cards (13-15) took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 to start the match. Senior Jeffrey Brown and Christopher Morin-Koughoucheff gave Louisville an early edge with a 6-3 win over Stephen Goldman and Zak Kahn on court two. At the No. 1 spot, senior Alex Gornet and freshman George Hedley battled with Cedric Dujacquier and Robin Demasse before prevailing 7-5 to clinch the first point of the match. On court three, junior Sean Donohue and Courtney Lock rallied from a 4-1 deficit against Adam Rudowski and Bruno Russo, but the match was abandoned with a 5-5 score.
In singles action, Hedley gave the Cards a 2-0 lead with a 6-4 win over Goldman on court three. Gornet added to the lead at the No.1 spot where he beat Dujacquier 6-2, 6-3. The match was decided at the No. 3 position when Brown topped Khan 6-4, 6-2 to make the score 4-0.
Belmont (8-10) got on the scoreboard at No. 4 spot where Rudowski picked up a 6-2 win in the first set and was up 5-2 in the second when freshman Brandon Lancaster rallied to tie the score at 5-5, but Rudowski went on to win 7-5.
With the match in hand, Louisville got another singles win on court two where Morin-Kougoucheff took the first set 6-0, but Belmond's Demasse won the second 6-4 to force a third set tiebreak which ended 10-6 in favor of the Cards.
Donohue wrapped up the match at the No. 6 spot where he picked up a 6-3 first-set win over Russo, but the Belmont player took the second set 7-5 to push to a third set tiebreaker where Donohue won 10-6 to make the final score 6-1.
