Cards battle valiantly but bow 4-3 in final home match of season.

The University of Louisville women's tennis team was edged 4-3 by No. 32-ranked Syracuse Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cards dropped the doubles point, losing at No. 1 and No. 3 ut then battled the Orange to the end of a closely contested match. The Orange went up 2-0 when Valeria Salazar beat Ariana Rodriguez 6-2, 6-3. Louisville's Abbie Pahz dug in and beat Maria Tritou 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 to put the Cards on the board. Elle Stokes beat SU's Dina Hegab 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 to tie the match at two. UofL's Sena Suswam outlasted Gabriela Knutson 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 to take a 3-2 lead.

The Orange tied the match at three when Libi Mesh was able to knock off UofL's Olivia Boesing in three sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Syracuse got the clinching point when Anna Shkudun took three sets to beat Jessie Paul 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Cardinals finish the regular season on the road next weekend when they head to Florida State on April 15 for a 4 p.m. matchup before heading down to Miami on April 17 for a noon match in the last dual matches before the ACC Tournament April 20-24 in Cary, N.C.
