Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore are eligible for WBCA All-America accolades.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville's Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore were selected for WBCA all-Region I honors, the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association announced on Wednesday.
The sophomores are now eligible for the 2016 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America Team, which is comprised of 10 players and will be announced on April 2 during the NCAA Women's Final Four Super Saturday festivities.
Hines-Allen and Moore are the fourth and fifth players in school history to earn all-region status by their sophomore seasons (Angel McCoughtry, sophomore; Jazz Covington, sophomore; Shoni Schimmel, sophomore).
Both Hines-Allen and Moore earned all-Atlantic Coast Conference first team honors from the coaches' and Blue Ribbon Panel. Hines-Allen also secured Blue Ribbon Panel ACC Player of the Year accolades and was voted to the ACC All-Tournament first team.
Hines-Allen, currently a candidate for the Wade Trophy, was a three-time ACC Player of the Week. She is third in the league in scoring (17.6), rebounding (8.4), and field goal percentage (54.7), seventh in free throw percentage (80.0), second in defensive rebounds (5.4), and tied for seventh in offensive rebounds (3.0).
The Montclair, N.J., native has pushed her way into the school's record books this year. Her 581 points are the ninth most in a season in program history and her 246 field goals are fifth most in a single season. Her 277 rebounds are ninth most in a season, while her average is the best since Monique Reid averaged 9.2 from 2009-10.
Moore also has been a pivotal component of the Cardinals' success this year. She is 15th in the ACC in scoring (14.1), fifth in assists (4.4), 11th in free throw percentage (76.7), sixth in 3-point field goals per game (2.3) and assist-turnover ratio (1.6).
The Hercules, Calif., native also made her marks in the school's annals this year. She finished the 2015-16 campaign with 77 3-pointers, seventh most in a single season, and her 125 free throws – one more than she made as a freshman – are eighth most in a season.
Louisville is one of nine schools nationally with at least two players on the all-region teams.
