Freshman Megan Hensley earns the ACC's first weekly honor of the season
The University of Louisville's Megan Hensley was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week in the leagues' first weekly honors of the season released on February 15
.
Hensley (Ashland, Ky.) posted a 3-0 record on the week - earning a win in each of her appearances. The freshman registered a 0.82 ERA and held opponents to a .136 batting average with six strikeouts in 17.0 innings of work. In her first collegiate start in the circle, she scattered two hits in five shutout innings and combined with junior Maryssa Becker to shut out Sam Houston State. She went on to notch a complete game win against Iowa, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out three and closed the weekend by tossing five innings of relief, holding Sam Houston State to one hit while retiring 15 of the 18 batters she faced.
Hensley helped her own cause at the plate with a .387 batting average (7 for 18) on the weekend. She led the Cards with six runs and belted out two doubles while driving in a pair of runs.
Louisville (4-1) will travel to Raleigh, N. C. to face Wisconsin and Nebraska in the ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge Feb. 26-28.
