
Louie the Cardinal To Participate in the Steamboat Stampede

Louie heads to Colorado for fun and competition
Louie the Cardinal will compete at the Steamboat Mascot Stampede at the Colorado resort December 16 – 17, 2016. A collection of 20 NCAA Division I mascots will gather in Steamboat, Colorado for an opportunity to receive continuing mascot education and to participate in light competition on the slopes and in Gondola Square.
The mascots scheduled to take part are:
University of Arizona's "Wilma T. Wildcat"
Boston College's "Baldwin the Eagle"
Brigham Young University's "Cosmo"
University of Charlotte's "Norm the Niner"
The University of Colorado, Boulder's "Chip"
Colorado State University's "Cam the Ram"
East Carolina University's "PeeDee the Pirate"
University of Houston's "Shasta"
University of Idaho's "Joe Vandal"
Iowa State University's "Cy"
University of Kansas' "Big Jay"
University of Louisville's "Louie the Cardinal"
University of Nevada, Reno's "Alphie"
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill's "Rameses"
University of Texas at Austin's "Hook 'Em"
University of Wisconsin, Madison's "Bucky Badger"
U.S. Air Force Academy's "Gyrfalcon"
Utah State University's "Big Blue"
Valparaiso University's "The Crusader"
The two day event at Steamboat will be packed with mascot and fan related activities will include the Ride Em' Cowboy Snow Bike Slalom, a Mascot Tug-O-War, a Mascot Dance Off and an Obstacle Challenge. The fun kicks off on Friday night, December 16, when skiers and boarders will have the opportunity to hit the slopes during the Mascot Ski & Dance Party, a celebration of the resort's first
evening of Night Skiing and Riding. The competitive events take place Saturday, December 17, culminating in the crowning of the Mascot Stampede Champion. The event also includes a Mascot Boot Camp, full of team building and best practices to help the student performers become better mascots.
