LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball's Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore on Thursday were named to the 'Wade Watch' list for the 2017 Wade Trophy, which recognizes the national player of the year.
The Wade Trophy – now in its 40th year – is the oldest and most prestigious national player of the year award in college women's basketball. It is named in honor of the late, legendary Delta State head coach Lily Margaret Wade, who won three consecutive national championships with the Lady Statesmen.
Louisville is one of six schools to have multiple representatives on the watch list, which is comprised of 25 players.
Hines-Allen, the reigning and preseason ACC Player of the Year, is averaging 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She has tallied 18 assists and nine steals through seven games. Three times this year, the junior has pulled down double-digit rebounds, including a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards to open the season against UT Martin.
Moore, also a junior, is second on the team in scoring at 12.9 points per game. She leads the Cardinals in both assists (29) and free throws (21). The Hercules, Calif., native, has dished out at least six assists on four occasions this season. Moore had a star-studded performance against Middle Tennessee. She tallied a season-best 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with six boards.
Hines-Allen and Moore joined the school's 1,000-point club earlier this season, becoming the 26th and 27th players, respectively, to achieve the plateau.
No. 7 Louisville faces No. 5 Maryland on Thursday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in the KFC Yum! Center.
