Freshman Clement Filho won in the consolation semifinals Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up three wins in the CCB Collegiate Invitational at The Country Club of Birmingham hosted by the University of Alabama on Saturday. Freshman Clement Filho advanced Sunday's consolation finals.

"Today was another long day," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "Clement was our marathon man with winning two three set matches. We will do what we can to get him fresh for tomorrow. We will look to finish strong on the last day now."

Sophomore Michael Quang and freshman Fredrik Moe opened the day with a 6-2 win against Tulane's Time Ruetzel and Jonathan Star. Sophomore Brandon Lancaster and freshman Clement Filho lost a 7-5 battle against Tulane's Tim Ruetzel and Jonathan Star.

In singles action, Filho defeated Lipscomb's Alejandro Mazanares 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the consolation semifinals of the Navy Draw. Moe fell 7-6, 6-1 to UAB's Giovani Pasini, but rebounded to beat UAB's Marlon Goering 6-0, 6-1 in the Bulldog Singles Draw. Lancaster lost a 6-1, 6-0 decision against UAB's Eric Komati. Quang fell 6-2, 6-3 to South Alabama's Olivier Gingras.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday.
