SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – It's not March – in fact, it's not even conference play – but Sunday's women's basketball contest between No. 4 Louisville and No. 3 South Carolina has the looks of a postseason matchup.
The game, both teams' final tilt in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge, takes place in the MassMutual Center at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Mass. ESPN2 will broadcast the game, with Tiffany Greene (play-by-play) and Debbie Antonelli (analyst) calling the action. Louisville's radio broadcast, featuring Nick Curran (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson, is available on WKRD 790AM.
Both teams rank in the top-20 nationally in a host of categories, especially on offense: scoring offense (South Carolina, No. 8; Louisville, No. 18), scoring margin (South Carolina, No. 4; Louisville, No. 11), field goal percentage (South Carolina, No. 6; Louisville, No. 16), and assists per game (Louisville, No. 9; South Carolina, No. 13).
Louisville, which reached its second-highest ranking in the Associated Press poll in school history, is coming off a 63-47 victory over Chattanooga on Monday. The Cardinals, who are currently 6-0, boasts a plus-28.3 margin of victory.
